The field of “Anti Aging & Regenerative Medicine” is expanding rapidly, and one of the newer technologies to come from this area of medicine is platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy.

It has been used for over a decade in orthopedic applications, and is what Star Athletes are using to treat joint injuries.

Apparently it is also what Peyton Manning used to help heal his neck injury prior to his record-breaking season as a quarterback in the NFL.

Hair Restoration in combination with PRP has seen a dramatic increase in the past few years.

The Hair Restoration industry has discovered the positive benefits of this form of regenerative medicine. Platelets are small disk shaped cells within your blood that are rich with high concentrations of several growth factors.

The platelets can be thought of the “quarterbacks” of the healing processes in your body. They can encourage the healing response, and play a vital role in healing by releasing multiple growth factors (found within the plasma).

At Savannah Anti-Aging & Rejuvenation Center we offer Micro-Needling for the Scalp as well as Scalp Injections. Our Partner Hair Restoration Savannah is conveniently located next door and offers the latest most innovative solutions for Hair Loss.

Please be sure to ask for a consult for NeoGraft.

SAVANNAH PRP Therapy/ Hair Restoration

The PRP can be included as a part of the NeoGraft hair restoration procedure as it is exceptionally good at helping the new grafts heal into their new location. Medical studies have consistently shown that this additional treatment increases the growth and density of the transplanted hair.

The PRP acts in a manner not unlike fertilizer for your lawn. When used in conjunction with the NeoGraft hair restoration procedure, the PRP is injected virtually pain free and injected just under the skin where the new hair grafts are going to be placed, this takes place several weeks prior to the scheduled Hair Transplant, so that when the grafts are placed, a higher-than-normal level of the body’s “Own Healing Cells” (Growth-Factors) are present in the skin, which greatly enhances the graft yield, hair density, and final cosmetic appearance.

PRP Therapy can be a stand-alone procedure to slow the progress of balding and hair loss. There are no wounds created; only a tiny needle is used, and so there is no scarring of any sort, and following the procedure there is zero evidence that a procedure of any sort has taken place.

This is similar to when you have your blood drawn for labs; there are no permanent changes that occur at the blood draw site, typically on the inside of your elbows. This type of treatment is especially beneficial, in conjunction with other non-surgical treatments, in young men, and in females with early stages of hair loss. For men under 35, there is a significant chance that the rate of hair loss slows down dramatically, and in some cases, the follicle produces hairs with larger hair shaft diameters, and thus it appears as thought the hair has grown back.
